What is communication?
The word communication has been derived from Latin word “communicare”, meaning "to share".
According to scientists communication is:
“Sharing of experiences on the basis of commonness” /Wilbur Lang Schramm/
“Communication is the process which increases commonality” /Denis McQuail/
“Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions, or emotions by two or more persons”/Newman & Summer/
“It is the exchange of information and transmission of meanings” /Katz & Khan/

Communication is a two-ways process of reaching mutual understanding, in which participants not only exchange (encode-decode) information, news, ideas and feelings, but also create and share meaning.

In other words communication is a PROCESS of exchanging ideas that are encoded in messages, using different CHANNELS. It is continuous process and it can be INTERRUPTED by different communication BARRIERS.
