• provide guidance and direction,
• facilitate planning,
• help organisations evaluate and control performance.

Developing SMART goals

. the importance of goals that are realistic and also attainable.
. stresses the importance of choosing goals that matter.
. the importance of grounding goals within a time-frame, giving them a target date.
